How You Answer This Question Can Change Your Marriage

Imagine the following scenario. Your spouse has given you an important letter to mail and is counting on you to mail it on your way to work. But you slip up…you forget all about it until you’re on the way home. “Oh, #[email protected]!!” is your first reaction. You know the spouse will be upset.

You frantically search the car and your briefcase for the letter, but it’s gone. You can’t find it anywhere. Now what do you do? What will you tell your spouse when you get home and he (or she) asks you if you mailed the letter?

Will you say, “It got lost” or will you say, “I lost it”? Your answer to this question gives insight into your willingness to accept responsibility for your actions. According to Sidney J. Harris, “We have not passed that subtle line between childhood and adulthood until …we have stopped saying ‘It got lost,’ and say ‘I lost it.'”

As long as you avoid taking responsibility for your actions or you look for reasons to avoid admitting you goofed, you’re not being honest with yourself. When you accept responsibility and stop rationalizing and blaming, then you can start to focus on what you can do differently that will produce different results next time.

This is not easy to do. Especially if you’re in the habit of placing blame elsewhere. Accepting responsibility in a marriage takes courage, above all when a spouse is at fault.

Mark, a long-time procrastinator, always had a list of reasons why he hadn’t been able to get around to doing the house maintenance chores. It was too cold or too hot, he was too tired,or he didn’t have the right tools or enough time. He would always promise to do the chores another day. Mark’s behavior greatly irritated his wife Anne, and she began to resent his constant excuses.

It wasn’t until Anne expressed her dissatisfaction with their marriage, giving Mark’s habitual procrastination as one of the reasons, that Mark really looked closely at how his behavior was hurting his marriage relationship. In marriage counseling sessions, he learned to take responsibility for his part in what happened each day. He also learned to pay attention to the words he selected to describe what happened.

Mark learned that when he said, “There wasn’t enough time to fix the faucet,” he often really meant, “I didn’t schedule enough time to complete the job today.” And if he went a step further and was even more honest, he also meant,”I don’t really want to do this, so I’m putting it off.”

Once Mark was more aware of his behavior patterns, he was able to have an honest talk with Anne. He told her that while he didn’t mind doing some of the repair jobs, he really didn’t want to have to spend the time the others would require. They talked it over and decided to hire someone to do the repairs Mark knew he would in all probability never get around to doing. He made a resolution not to make promises unless he really planned to keep them. He also resolved to be honest with Anne upfront instead of dragging things out for months.

These changes made a major difference in Mark and Anne’s relationship. Anne didn’t feel like “the nagging wife” any longer, and Mark didn’t mislead her by making false promises. Less friction in the marriage allowed them time to focus on each other’s good points and to enjoy more harmony in their relationship.

If you are a VA, you will be asked to answer emails, call clients, arrange appointments for your online boss and other stuffs which are mostly clerical. An Outline of Jessica Biel’s Workout

Jessica Biel probably has the best body in Hollywood. Seriously, she is a great role model for women who want to get in shape. Jason Walsh, her personal trainer recently revealed to People Magazine the workout that gives her slim thighs, firm butt, and generally a rocking body!

Were you lucky enough to see Jessica Biel in the movie Blade 3? If you did, you may have seen fitness perfection. Seriously…Jessica looked amazing in that movie. As a side note, Ryan Reynolds got in amazing shape as well. The great thing about Jessica Biel is that she manages to stay in amazing shape without losing her femininity.

So here is a summary of Jessica Biel’s Workout (along with my comments)

1) Cardio…for cardio she does interval training. After jogging for 1/2 a mile to warm up, she does a total of 6 sprints with short rests in between. She sprints for two sets of 200 meter sprints, two sets of 150 meter sprints, and two sets of 100 meter sprints.

My Comments: This is the best form of cardio to really burn stubborn body fat quickly. High Intensity Interval Training has been shown to burn significantly more body fat than steady state aerobics.

2) Plyometrics…”These hurt,” says Walsh of stair jumping. “Even athletes hate them. After Jessica did these the first time, she would’ve punched me if she had the energy.” How-to: Jump from the bottom step of a flight of at least 20 stairs to the third. Keep going, skipping a stair each jump.

My Comments: Her trainer, Jason Walsh, understands that plyometrics tone the body in ways that can’t be duplicated in the gym. It makes sense that he would recommend these, because Jessica will get better muscle tone as a result. This is one of the reasons why I believe that athletes have better looking bodies than people who only workout in the gym.

3) Weight Training…”We tend to use lighter weights and do more reps,” he says. “We keep moving, so it becomes a cardio workout too.”

My Comments: This is what Craig Ballantyne, who wrote an excellent book called Turbulence Training, recommends. You can basically burn fat like crazy if you do your weight training in a very specific manner.

4) For the Abs…”Hanging leg raises don’t build a six-pack, but they flatten,” says Walsh. “Jessica hates them, but she powers through!” They also do the Russian Twist. Sit down and lean back slightly. Hold a 5-lb. medicine ball and twist from side to side, 15 twists per side, three reps.

My Comments: I don’t agree with this approach to developing the abs. The problem with hanging leg raises is that they shorten the hip flexors which can dramatically increase your chances for injuries. I am a big believer in a great exercise called “planks”. Not only are they effective…they help protect your back from injury as well.

Summary…Jessica Biel’s Workout is very similar to a high level athlete. It makes sense that she would have a better looking body than most other actresses in Hollywood…she is training at a higher level. Her approach is intense interval workouts, which have proven time and time again to burn more body fat than “slow and steady” types of workouts. No wonder why she looks so good!

Dog Grooming Tips For Beginners

Dog grooming can be very expensive if you visit a pet grooming salon. However, you must not compromise your pet’s hygiene and overall physiological and psychological health by ignoring its need to be well-groomed. Just like people, they also need some pampering and grooming every now and then so that they look and feel better.

Fortunately, you don’t need to spend a lot of money on dog grooming. There are various ways in which you can take care of your pet by yourself in your own home. All you have to do is purchase some grooming tools and supplies and follow these tips on how to properly groom your pet.

The first thing you have to consider is your dog’s coat. You don’t want your pet to develop problems with fleas and other pests so you must always clean and maintain your pet’s hair. One very essential pet supply is the soft-bristled brush. You have to make sure that you brush your dog’s coat every day to prevent it from becoming tangled. Regular brushing will also make the coat shiny because it stimulates and spreads the natural oils found in the coat. It prevents shedding because it removes dead and dying hair.

As well, you need to have your dog’s coat trimmed every month or two, depending on the breed. If you want to do this on your own, you need to have clippers or trimmers, scissors, a brush or a comb, a blow dryer, and towels.

Next, when it comes to bathing your dog, you need to get a good dog shampoo and soap, towels, comb, and brush. Before the bath, brush your dog’s coat so that it doesn’t become tangled when it gets wet. You have to bathe the dog every month (for dogs with long hair) or every two months (for short-haired dogs) or whenever the dog needs it (e.g. when it has rolled over in the mud or something smelly). Regular bathing will prevent your dog from getting fleas and other skin diseases. It also keeps the dog smelling nice and feeling clean.

Dog grooming also involves nail clipping. Your dog’s nails grow just like yours and longer nails can do a lot of damage to your home. They might also break off, which would be painful for your pet. Therefore, you must cut your dog’s nails about once a month. This isn’t like clipping your own nails because a dog’s nails are shaped differently and are much thicker. You’ll need to use a dog nail trimmer. You should also have some blood-clotting powder handy if the need arises.

Twice a month, check your dog’s ears for fleas and infections. Then clean them using cotton balls, warm water, and mineral oil.

Finally, not only people have to brush their teeth. Your dog can also develop cavities and other diseases of the mouth, teeth, and gums. You need pet toothpaste and a toothbrush to clean the mouth twice a week.

German Shepherd Dog – Dog Breeds

Group: Herding

Weight: 75-95 lbs

Height: male: 24-26, female: 22-24 inches

Overview

The German Shepherd was first bred in the 19th century by Max Von Stephanitz. He is considered to be the father of the German Shepherd. This breed is admired for their flexibility as companions and for their devotion to work. These dogs are the first dogs to have been ever used as guide dogs for the blind. Currently, the German Shepherd is one of the most admired and popular breeds in the world.

Temperament

The German Shepherd has a unique personality, and they are very self-assured and strong in their actions. They are naturally without fear, but they are also very devoted and protective dogs. The German Shepherd always want to please its owners, and will fight to the death to protect them. This breed can at times be distant, especially with strangers. The will usually take some time to get to know new people before they let their guard down. This dog is extremely watchful – and will never miss anything that goes on around them.

Care

The German Shepherd sheds little hair, but on a constant basis. This is breed is however a seasonal heavy shedder. In order to keep hair in the house at bay, these dogs should be brushed on a daily basis. The German Shepherd is not a dog that should be bathed too often. They should be bathed once or twice during the year to avoid the depletion of the oils on their skin.

Training

German Shepherds are one of the most intelligent dog breeds, and also very easy to train. Training of these dogs should begin when they are still very young, and their trainers should be patient and consistent in their training. Seeing that these dogs are so intelligent, it’s vital to train them in a firm manner from the start. If these dogs are treated in an unkind manner, they will become obstinate and willful. These dogs can be housetrained very easily, especially when they have been crate trained. Because of their intelligence, these dogs will enjoy a metal challenge and can be trained to do almost anything. This breed will always be protective of its family, but wary of strangers.

Health problems

German Shepherd Dogs are likely to suffer from hip dysplasia. This problem is predominantly the consequence of random breeding programs. Before buying a German Shepherd Dog puppy, be sure that both parents have their hips certified OFA good at the very least. This breed is also prone to blood disorders, digestive problems and persistent eczema.

Why Do You Think Green Tea Tablets Are So Popular?

Why are green tea tablets so popular?  You see them in the drugstore.  They are advertised on TV and in magazines.  Supposedly, they are fat burners and promote “internal health”.  But, what are the facts?  That’s what you’ll learn here.

Research databases contain over 3200 reports concerning the activity of catechins and other polyphenols in green tea leaves.  The research began as a result of early reports linking green tea drinking to a lower than expected incidence of heart disease among Japanese smokers.  The reports also showed a reduced incidence of stomach and throat cancer, but not lung cancer.

So, if you’re a smoker, don’t think that green tea tablets can protect you.  We may not know how to prevent cancer, yet, but we do know that avoiding cigarette smoke is one of the best things that you can do for your health.  If you don’t develop cancer, you will almost certainly develop emphysema, a lung disease that will eventually smother you.

We also know that antioxidants and natural anti-inflammatories have anti-cancer activity.  Catechins have both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.  Two of the factors involved in developing cancer and in its progression are oxidation, which is caused by free radical damage, and chronic inflammation, which is caused by a variety of issues, including diet.

Some of the mountainous research has concerned type II diabetes and being overweight or obese.  In laboratory animals and a few human trials, researchers have shown that catechins helped the body burn more fat during exercise and more calories throughout the day.  Controlling weight is important for people with type II diabetes.  Catechins have also been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce blood sugar levels and reduce blood pressure.

So, taking green tea tablets may be a good idea.  But, is it the best idea?

The extract is an ingredient in what I consider the best health supplements.  But, it is only one of over 90 different vitamins, minerals, amino acids and herbal extracts.  There is good reason to believe that increasing your nutrient intake, without increasing your caloric intake can help you fend off disease and fight those problems that you may have.  There is also reason to believe that optimal nutritional intake can help people live longer.

When we look at people that are over 100 years old, still active and alert, we don’t see them taking green tea tablets, but we often see them drinking the beverage.  Japan has the highest percentage of people over the age of 100.  People in Japan drink green tea, but they also eat a variety of vegetables.  For meat, they usually choose fish.  Kelp is a favorite food.  All of these food selections are rich in antioxidants and other nutrients, but low in calories.

It may be difficult to always make the right food selections, but it is easy to take a multi-nutritional supplement on a daily basis.  They are worth far more than single ingredient green tea tablets.  Think of it as a little extra health insurance. Visit my website today to learn about a multi-nutritional supplement I’ve discovered that I’d like to share with you.

Zero Time Tolerance

Here I stand, checking my watch and rattling my change while I suffer an intolerable two-minute wait for my fries! So what is my problem? Am I late for an important meeting, double-parked, or just being totally unreasonable? Actually, I’m none of the above. I’m just your average customer and whatever I want – I-WANT- IT- NOW!

Remember when fast food first hit the scene? A little young for that? Well how about the advent of the microwave oven, or that first time you stepped up to a PC with 64 K of memory? Admit it, you were amazed! Now, what do you think as you queue up for your burger, add another thirty seconds to finish nuking your leftovers, or wait forever for a simple little multi-megabyte download off the net? Has fast food slowed down? Is your microwave on the fritz? Have you maxed-out your hard drive? Or, are you, like most customers – developing zero time tolerance?

In our grandparents’ day, word of world events came hours, even days after the actual occurrence. Weeks later, a few related black and white photos might be found in a   magazine . By the time Gram and Gramps saw the ‘newsreel’, the event, by today’s standards, would be considered ancient history. Now, news comes to us in high definition with surround sound, as it happens, regardless of where it happens.

Did you know that in Japan, a car buyer can visit the dealer of their choice, either in person or on-line, decide on a model, choose from countless options and the very next day be driving a car custom equipped exactly to their wants and needs? Why are the car companies moving heaven and earth to make this happen? Because they know that, even if a customer takes months to decide on what they are going to buy, once they decided – THEY WANT IT NOW!

You are probably thinking, not everyone wants it fast, right? What about the older folks who like to socialize with those who provide them service? While they may like to spend a little more time chatting, I guarantee they still don’t like to stand in line, or wait at the counter.

Fact is, gone are the days of deferred gratification. This is the era of Zero Time Tolerance. Whatever it is – WE WANT IT NOW!

So if you’re in the sales and service business (like who isn’t?) and you are not already obsessed with faster service, think about it – I am… and I’m the customer.

Barbell Training For Grapplers Made Simple!

A barbell and some plates…what could be more simple? Its probably the way you originally started your journey. Maybe it was a 5 foot exercise bar and some cement weights, but it was still just a barbell and some plates.

Back then you didn’t care about the latest studies and fad exercise routines…all you wanted was to get big and strong, and that one tool was your path.

Somehow along the way, we’ve all been caught off guard by the “latest and greatest” – from late night infomercials to full page   magazine  ads – but it’s about time we got back to REAL training. Yeah, training with just a barbell might be “old school”, but in my book old school training is where it’s at.

Especially for MMA fighters and grapplers, where weight training sometimes gets a bad rap, some bare bones barbell training can serve you well. Current Wake Forrest strength coach and former Ohio wrestling coach, Ethan Reeve, used to bust out his barbells after or before tough wrestling workouts so that his athletes could get in their strength work. They worked the basics – Romanian deadlifts, power cleans, front squats from a power clean, lunges and back squats with the help of a training partner, military and push presses, and bent over rows. Nothing fancy about it, but they got RESULTS.

Out of those movements, power cleans were used very heavily for power endurance. Coach reeve would have his athletes do 10 minute combo drills, where they perform a power clean, hang clean, and then another power clean every 30 seconds. Another workout was the famed 10×10 power clean routine where every wrestler on the team was expected to power clean their bodyweight for 10 sets of 10 every 2 minutes…that’s 100 bodyweight power cleans in under 20 minutes!

While workouts like that might sound crazy, for Coach Reeve and his wrestlers, they were common place. They understood the value of hard work, and they knew what they could accomplish with simple training tools such as just a barbell.

So the next time you start getting drawn to the “next big thing”, think about those wrestlers and remember that a barbell and some plates is plenty.

3 Key Reasons Why People Choose Not to Enroll in Your Classes

Being a class organizer it is your responsibility to keep on adding new highly demanding programs every academic year and also see to it that the registration count increases steadily. However you may surprisingly note that not all your classes are running on full capacity; neither the prospective candidates you contacted nor the ones who’ve shown active interest to enroll turned up on the sign-up day. You must be in wondering as to what went wrong. Well, the reason of such poor attendance in your classes may be because of your inability to create that engagement and loyalty quotient with your students.

Inadequate Advertising and Promotion

Before the start of a fresh semester or the beginning of a new academic year, it is crucial to build up a strong marketing team. The personnel will be responsible for creating the required buzz around your classes. Both offline print media channels and online social media platforms need to be fully utilized to get maximum attention and interest for participating in your classes. You must ensure that you post all the upcoming course details, including registrations and payment processing options on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, and such other popular web platforms. Additionally, it goes beyond saying that newspapers, educational   magazines  are still an important part of our daily lives; hence you should give ads on such channels. Besides, there is the television and radio networks where at certain times of the day your advertisement should come up.

Informing People via Mail

Apart from marketing your classes to the public, it is quite necessary to post mails to people you know will be interested to attend the courses being offered. Sending handwritten letters by post may take days to reach the concerned person. Often it has been found that the invitation has been delivered late after the passing of the registration date! A good alternative can be sending out invitations or reminders to people via email. Such digital mails reach a person faster and you get instant confirmation on the successful delivery of the same.

Outdated Registration System

The traditional manual process of registration is quite time-consuming. You need to send the final draft of the registration form to the printer to get the required number of hard-copies. Post the printing process you may find some errors at the very last minute. You need to send the edited version again for printing. Online class registration solutions have come in the marketplace to reduce your workload and tension. They are easy-to-use and quite cost-effective. You will get the chance to create and publish registration forms online. Besides, potential students can complete the sign-up process using just a computer with internet connectivity. Time saving plus no travelling cost as such.

GoodWin Update

I just received notification from Vito Technology that a new release of GoodWin is available. GoodWin is a scrolling, finger-friendly launcher and task manager that also displays PIM info.

If you are a Today plugin fan, you will be pleased that the new GoodWin is now a plug-in and also supports FunContact and SMS-Chat. The new version is faster starting and switches quicker.

It’s a fun and fancy interface. However, I found that you have to be careful with your finger flicking or you may inadvertently launch an application.

My major wish for this application is that it be customizable. It may be fine if you only have a few applications installed, but I have dozens, and it becomes a tedious chore to scroll and scroll and scroll to get to where I want to be. Furthermore, it lists absolutely everything, things that you do not necessary want on the list, and there is no way to remove them.

While there is a Favorites category at the top of the screen, it would be nice to be able to add menu items or folders for quicker navigation. Users should be able to add and delete items to the folders or menu. Speaking of menu, the main menu is all the way at the bottom, which means you have to scroll through bazillions of screens to get there, and when you do, is it a disappointing menu with too few options.

I have the greatest respect and admiration for Vito and its products, but GoodWin, while a great concept, needs more work in my opinion.

Check it out at http://iwindowsmobile.com. It costs $19.95 and the upgrade is free to previous owners.
